Match Report

In their first league game of the new season Rockets misfired in the opening 2 quarters before firing on all cylinders right until the last minute when the fouling out of the game’s top scorer Trae Pemberton saw the 4 point Rockets deficit at 79-83 a bridge too far. Great entertainment for the packed arena at Rivermead where 16 and 17 yo Rockets Academy players made significant contributions and an exciting season is promised for this exciting team.

The league’s MVP from last season, now at Derby, Malcolm Smith top scored for them with 26 points whilst Trae Pemberton hit 30 pts for Rockets with A J Carr adding 11 pts and captain Danny Carter 10 pts.

Rockets now travel away to southern coast rivals Worthing Thunder next Sat before returning to Rivermead on Sun 21st Oct when they entertain Hemel Storm in the National Trophy pool stage where victory will help them secure a semi-final place.
